I wish I could say that my path was a straight line, but it wasn't.

As I grew a bit older, I began to drift away from my spiritual practice and became fascinated with the pleasures of the world and becoming an adult.

It was now time to be "somebody" and to become "successful".

Armed with mountains of self-help books and positive programming, I strove diligently to become successful as judged by the world.

And I succeeded to a degree far above the norm.

Yet, as my outward life was appearing more and more successful, my inner world was crumbling.

At a certain point, I began to self-sabotage and tear down everything "I" had worked so hard to build.

I repeated this same pattern a second time and I just couldn't figure out why I kept self-sabotaging.

After that, I had had enough. Something had to change.

There had to be a better way. And I was determined to find it!

This all resulted in ultimately realizing that I had been essentially wandering in darkness and building a better ego over those years.

It wasn't a white light experience but more of a gradual dissolving of the false ideas I had about myself and the world.

As these old ideas fell away, what took it's place was an understanding that can only be experienced directly.

All attempts to describe it with words only serve to further confuse the issue.
